This past month, I’ve been trying out some new skincare products from DeVita. It’s been a good four years since I’ve used anything other than oil and clay to cleanse my face, but it was time for a change. I had heard tales of people’s skin changing in their mid-twenties, and it finally happened to me. I used to be normal to oily, as so many of us are. In the past year, I’ve come to accept that my skin has transformed to be dry. And this meant my regular skincare regimen wasn’t cutting it anymore, resulting in breakouts and blackheads. I needed help.
Skincare is a topic I am passionate about. The skin is just a thin barrier between your internal body and the the external world, making it a gateway to toxic chemicals if you’re not paying attention to what’s in the products you’re using. That’s why for years I used only diy cleansing methods, so I could know exactly what my body was coming into contact with.
Now, while I’m still a big advocate of the masks and oil cleansing that remains my staple, the fact is skincare companies have access to technology that I don’t have. Jojoba and rose hip oil just weren’t keeping my skin moisturized for the entire day anymore. I also wanted to find some anti-aging products, because I’d rather be preventing signs of aging now rather than fighting them later.
For my quest, I took to iHerb to find some affordable, clean skincare options. Continue reading DeVita Skin Care Saved My Dry Skin: A Review
We all want to be healthier. Whether it’s getting rid of the the ache in your back, losing weight, or being happier, we all have goals we’re aiming for. It can be a challenge, though, to know where to begin. There are so many moving parts to overall health: diet, exercise, when to eat, products to avoid… it can get overwhelming. My best piece of advice is to start slow. Take it easy on yourself! Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting a goal of looking like Scarlett Johansson in three months when you’ve been sitting on the couch merely watching marvel movies since January. Pick smaller goals you know you can achieve, and build upon them from there. If you build habits that will set you up for success from the beginning, then you’ll be healthier in the end no matter what obstacles you come across. With that in mind, here are five things you can do right now to be healthier to get yourself started.

Valentine’s Day is coming up in just a week! Whether you’re spending the day with a special someone, a group of close friends, or chillin’ by yourself, it’s a great excuse to get dressed up and eat chocolate. At least, that’s my plan. In fact, I’m especially excited for Valentine’s Day this year, because for the first time, I actually have someone to spend it with! And of course, being the planning maniac that I am, I can’t wait to make the day super special. So with that in mind, here’s my take on how to look like the perfect Valentine, and some of the plans I have in store!

There’s one universal truth I think we can all agree on: finding a good deal is one of the greatest pleasures in life. With spring on it’s way, the new season of clothing and accessories will be coming out, but not everyone can afford the brand new items. Never fear! Lucky for you, I never buy anything full price, and I’ve put together a list of spring appropriate bags in a range of prices, but all of them seriously on sale.

I’m back friends! Let me tell you, getting a cold in the middle of winter is no joke. I haven’t been feeling well enough to write until now, but I’m finally back on my feet and able to put my brain to use! So, one of the things I’m constantly combating during the winter is the age old foe so many of us face during the cold months: winter dryness. Continue reading How to ward off winter dryness
So, next time I move apartments, remind me not to do it in the middle of the holidays. The end of this year has been a good one, but incredibly hectic, which means I haven’t had a lot of time to create a great photo shoot. If your holidays have been as busy and time consuming as mine, you may not have had a chance to figure out what you’re wearing on New Year’s Eve. But don’t worry! At my house, I’m in charge of throwing together last minute outfits for myself and my sister, so I’ve got you covered. Continue reading New Year’s Eve Outfits You Might Already Have in Your Closet
Christmas Eve is only five days away! The holidays are one of my favorite times of year, not because of presents and decorations and carols filling the air (though all of that is definitely good stuff), but because of the warmth that fills my heart when I spend time with the ones I love. If you’re like me, you’re still running around desperately trying to get last minute gift shopping done, but you’ve already figured out your make up and outfit for the family dinner. I think I may have perfected the art of holiday hair, so without further ado, here’s my favorite braided up-do for the holidays!

The rain has really picked up here in the PNW now that that winter has officially begun. And I don’t have to tell you what damp cold weather means: cold and flu season.
However, cold damp weather is also the perfect reason to curl up with a book (side note, I just finished The Distant Hours by Kate Morton, and THAT is the perfect book for this time of year!) and a cup of tea. If you love tea as much as I do, I have the most delicious cold remedy tea you will ever taste. Continue reading The Best Tea For Sick Days
Is there anything as relaxing as treating yourself to a spa night? I love to throw together a simple face mask and relax with a cup of tea and a book for a few minutes. It’s one of those little moments you can take to remind yourself you’re worth a little pampering from time to time.
This is one of my favorite face masks, and I think others with dry skin will love it too! There’s just three simple ingredients: Continue reading Sweet Pink Face Mask
